Madjitil Moorna Choir are an exceptional group of people who come together for the enjoyment of singing, entertaining and an exchange of language and culture in an inclusive and friendly environment

"The choir is made up of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people and if anything illustrates reconciliation in action, it’s the choir. White fellas learning our language makes me feel proud and honoured"

FRINGE was SOLD OUT!

Huge excitement in the last hours as tickets sold out (and some partners were left out in the cold/hot, ooowaaa!) What a buzz it was, with a great crowd, MMers shining like the stars they are…and George and Kobi leading strongly. Candice gave extra polish and led us in the encore: Joe Geia’s Yil Lull. Other favourites included George’s (exhausting) I’m a Yongka and Aunty Josie proudly singing her Wongatha language, beside the Noongar chorus in We Are One.
Will we do it again next year??
Thanks to Saskia…

Count-down to Kalamunda Zig Zag Festival

On SUNDAY 30 October we'll be celebrating our 10th Anniversary performance at the ZIG ZAG FESTIVAL. Just as we did in 2006, we're planning to sing 6 new songs - this time with a primary school choir.

Performing is such a BUZZ. If you want to join us on stage, come to practice these next 3 Mondays and make sure you have audio files and lyrics to help you learn the songs in a hurry!! They aren't difficult and new people stand behind confident singers in the short term.
All welcome.

Delly Stokes from Yabu Band teaches MM 'Campfires'

Aunty Josie Boyle invited Delly Stokes from 'Yabu Band' to choir practice (What a gorgeous voice he has! )
we learnt two from Delly, one of which we'll be recording for CURTIN TV show, 'NOONGAR DANJOO'. This is called 'Campfires' and is a plea to keep culture and stories alive for the young ones.

The second song we learnt was 'Healing Our Culture' which was written at the time of The Apology to Stolen Generations in February 2008.
Delly and MM share the belief in songs as agents of change and healing. It was…Read more
