On Monday 26 August 2019, Madjitil Moorna Choir was honoured to sing at the state funeral of the late Graham Polly Farmer. Polly's daughter, Kimmy Farmer, who is also Della Rae's dear cousin, requested that we sing at the end of the ceremony. Polly's family expressed the wish that the funeral be a celebration of Polly's life, with many stories told about the great marmaan (man) and his contribution to Aussie Rules Football, the wider community and most importantly, his family. So 35 of us went to work rehearsing a variation of the song Hello Dolly, in two part harmonies. With less than a week to bring this together, Della Rae and Kobi led the choir through a powerful and moving performance as Polly's body was led away for the final time. Bordah Djinang (see you later) Polly.
Well hello Polly
You’ll be missed Polly
Was so nice to have you back where you belong
You're so swell, Polly
We can tell, Polly
You're still glowin', you're still crowin', you're still goin' strong
We felt the ground swayin'
While the team's playin'
One of our favourite games from way back when
So don’t take the wrap fellas
Do another lap, Polly
Polly, never go away again
Promise, you'll never go away
Polly, never go away again
